Introduction
Klein Lyons has filed a class action on behalf of British Columbia residents who were injured as a result of using contact lens solution sold by Advanced Medical Optics Inc. (AMO). The contact lens solution was subject to a Health Canada recall issued on May 30, 2007: http://hc-sc.gc.ca/ahc-asc/media/advisories-avis/2007/2007_61_e.html. The recall involves the company's Complete All-In-One Contact Lens Care Solution. This solution was contaminated with a parasite that causes a serious eye condition known as acantamoeba keratitis. Symptoms include eye pain, redness, blurred vision, light sensitivity, sensation of something in the eye and excessive tearing. The condition is often mistaken as pink eye, but if left untreated, can lead to vision loss, with some patients requiring corneal transplant.
